Achilles tendinosis

Achilles tendonitis needs to be classified as either insertional or non-insertional. Insertional achilles tendonitis is more often calcific achilles tendonitis.

Non-insertional achilles tendonitis is subdivided into achilles tenosynovitis or tendinosis. Tendinosis refers to a diseased tendon. The substance of the tendion will show myxoid degeneration and longitudinal streaking of inflammation on MRI.
